COMEX School STEM & School’s X Platforms to help build student skills

The Ministry of Education is collaborating with many institutions, both inside and outside the Sultanate, to provide new programs to schools and to implement STEM learning strategies in the school educational process in order to improve academic achievement, and quality educational outcomes to keep pace with changes and adapt to the requirements of the universities and labor market.

But What Does STEM Mean?

STEM education is the focus and integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into curriculum and pedagogy to create a student-centered learning environment in which students think and create scientific solutions to problems, with a focus on a student's social, emotional, physical, and academic needs, with the help of schools and families.

Under the integrated school system, COMEX (on 23-25 May 2020 at Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre) will provide a School STEM Platform for students from all schools in Oman (international, government and private) coordinated by the Information and Communication Technology and Science faculty/department to display school projects in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math empowered with telecom or ICT innovations. The platform will contribute to Oman's Vision 2040 by providing students with an opportunity to present their skills in design, coding, robotics, science, technology, engineering, maths and other areas associated.

Comex will also provide a School’s X Platform for students from all schools where they will share their experiences of how they are using Ed tech, various tools like zoom, youtube, Facebook live, and recorded videos, for learning  during the COVID-19 pandemic. This platform will help the students become confident speakers on all aspects of ICT & Telecoms subject matter. The aim of Comex is to integrate schools and the education system with the technology industry of Oman.

The visitors to Comex will get to appreciate the advancements of science projects, scientific research, innovation displays as well as get an opportunity to listen to future kids (age 9-13) and young adults (14-16) talk about technology.
