Oman adopts technological solutions: parcel delivery by drone

From using drones in agriculture to sterilizing streets during COVID-19, the Sultanate has developed the use of drones to a new level by using them in various delivery services.

Muscat Governorate has signed with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology an agreement to use unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to implement deliveries in the Governorate of Muscat. The Ministry of Transport has cooperated with UVL Robotics - a global company for solutions based on the provision of soft aircraft - to support drone technologies and promote the use of modern technologies in Oman.

His Excellency Mohammed Al Kindi, Deputy Governor of Muscat, said: “Using drones to deliver and transport goods and parcels will greatly serve the residents of the eastern regions of the Wilayat of Muscat, these areas where the logistical distance from the various service centers may be an obstacle to delivering requests and postal parcels to them, so this service will save them time. money and effort." These drones can be used to deliver postal parcels and order food, goods, merchandise and other items on a daily basis.

His Excellency added: "This project coincides with the announcement of Muscat as the Arab Digital Capital for 2022, where the Sultanate's candidacy file came under the slogan "A digital future that creates opportunities."

As part of the Oman 2040 vision to transform Muscat digitally, some companies will be exhibiting at COMEX 2022 exhibition various drones and their uses in an attempt to prove that Oman is developing digitally, as COMEX 2022 is a great opportunity for technology companies to bridge the gaps and find solutions in many areas of the digital ecosystem such as: Artificial Intelligence, Cyber ??Security, Internet of Things, Innovation, Drones, Blockchain and more in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the goals of the digital capital.
